In August, the City of Akron released a draft riparian setback ordinance for public comment. The setbacks are designed to increase protections for the areas of land along river and stream banks. Protecting riparian areas and reducing the impacts of runoff serves to protect property from erosion and flooding, filters water pollutants from our waterways, and maintains the biological integrity of both the aquatic and land habitat for wildlife.
