The Evolving Healthcare Industry & Summa Health System
March 7, 2024
1015 S. Hawkins Ave
Time: 6:00pm-7:30pm
In January of 2024, Summa Health System executives announced plans to move forward with its deal to sale Summa to Health Assurance Transformation Corporation (HATco) a for-profit company owned by General Catalyst, one of the largest venture capital firms in the United States. As consumers of healthcare, it is important the community understands how Summa’s decision to transition from a non-profit to a for-profit system may impact healthcare delivery at Summa as well as understanding the forces driving changes in the healthcare industry. Leading the conversation is Dennis Butts, Jr., a partner at Guidehouse, a global consulting firm. Mr. Butts brings over twenty years of healthcare industry experience and serves as the Strategy and Innovation leader for the firm’s health segment. Ms. Tracy Carter, System Director, Government Relations, and Health Policy, for Summa Health, brings thirty-four years of experience in the healthcare industry and Ms. Ramona Hood, President and CEO of FedEx Custom Critical, Summa Board member and Governance Chair is responsible for collaborating and working with the Summa team to ensure the delivery of quality and equitable services to consumers. Each speaker was born and raised in Akron, and has a personal stake in ensuring that Summa continues to deliver high quality and equitable healthcare to its consumers.
